About The Artist

Glass artist, David Contreras, is a Seattle native and has been blowing glass for over 20 years. He started his glass career in 2001 at the Seattle Glassblowing Studio as a glass instructor and artist. There he trained and worked with some of the best glass artists of the Seattle area and beyond.

In 2009, after teaching glass for over 8 years, he moved on to focus on his own business, DC Glass, which he launched at the famous Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 2006. When the pandemic hit David was forced to close his business at the Pike Place Market and reinvent his glass career. In 2020, David began focusing on cremation glass art, an area he had explored after his spouses father passed in 2012. He found that this new avenue of glass to be a rewarding one. For the first time in his career he felt that he was doing something bigger than himself, providing solace to grieving families.

Today he works as an independent contractor for private cremation companies and for his own website. In 2022 David and his family relocated to Florida where David is also creating beautiful, non-cremation glass along side his cremation art and is still involved in local markets in the Flagler county area. The move to Florida has also inspired a style transition for David into more ocean themed glass art. Combining natural elements like coquina and sea corals with glass sea elements.
