How Much Cremation Is Needed?

Each memorial glass piece requires only a very small amount of ashes — typically less than an eighth of a teaspoon. Our process is highly respectful and precise, and because the glass captures every detail beautifully, a little truly goes a long way. Each Cremation Kit vial includes a clearly marked fill line so you know exactly how much to provide.

If you are placing a Family or Friends Group Order, we will adjust the fill line on your Cremation Kit vial based on the number of memorial pieces being created. This ensures we have exactly what we need while still preserving the majority of the ashes for you to keep.

Do you do Pets?

Yes, we are honored to do pieces with cremains of any loved ones.

Can you Mix cremations?

Yes, we can create a memorial piece that includes the cremains of more than one loved one. You may combine ashes from multiple people, multiple pets, or a combination of both. We kindly ask that you pre-mix the ashes before placing them into the vial in the Cremation Kit we send you. This ensures a seamless and respectful process when creating your glass artwork.

What Happens to Extra cremations?

We request only the amount of cremains needed to create your memorial glass art. Occasionally, once the artwork is complete, there may be a small amount of ashes remaining.

Inside your Cremation Kit, you’ll find a form where you can indicate how you would like us to handle any unused cremains. You will have two options:

  1. Scatter with care: We can respectfully scatter the remaining ashes in a serene, natural location that holds meaning to the artist, in accordance with local laws and regulations.

  2. Return the remaining ashes: We can return any unused cremains to you via USPS Priority Express with Signature, following all current USPS guidelines for shipping cremains.
The cost for this option is currently $60 to cover shipping and handling; pricing is subject to change based on USPS cremains–shipping regulations and rates.

Will my art look exactly like the photograph?

Each piece of memorial glass art is one-of-a-kind. Variations will naturally occur due to differences in ash color, the formation of bubbles, and the organic movement of molten glass. These subtle variations are part of what makes your piece uniquely yours.

Please note that the final appearance can be influenced by multiple factors, including:

  • Background or surface the artwork is photographed on

  • Type of camera and lens used

  • Lighting and direction of the light during photography

  • The monitor, phone, or screen on which the photo is viewed

  • Inherent color variation in glass and materials used

  • Natural bubbling created from cremains during the glass-blowing process

Because these elements are outside of our control and are part of the handmade nature of the artwork, we do not offer refunds based on aesthetic differences between your piece and the photographs shown on our website.
