For more than two decades, David Contreras has dedicated his life to the art of glass. What began in the studios of Seattle has evolved into a calling to create meaningful memorial heirlooms that help families honor, remember, and celebrate the lives of those they love.
Each memorial piece is individually handcrafted in our Florida studio using traditional glassworking techniques and created with the same care and attention David has devoted to his craft since 2001. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, making every heirloom as unique as the life it represents.
Today, David and his family work closely with families and funeral professionals across the country to create lasting works of art that preserve memories and connections for generations to come.

The sculpture takes its name from Kanaloa, one of the principal deities in Hawaiian tradition and a figure closely associated with the ocean. The octopus, known as the he‘e in Hawaiian culture, has long been admired for its adaptability, intelligence, resilience, and deep connection to the sea. About Kanaloa
In Hawaiian tradition, Kanaloa is associated with the ocean and is recognized as one of the four major Hawaiian deities alongside Kane, Kū, and Lono. The name Kanaloa is often interpreted as "the great depth" or "the great spirit," reflecting a profound connection to the sea and the natural world. The octopus, or he‘e, is one of the forms traditionally associated with Kanaloa and has become a symbol of wisdom, adaptability, and strength.
